Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:14:25 1999

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:31:08 1999

Sven

Thu Apr 8 03:32:13 1999

Thu Apr 8 03:32:47 1999

Itīs a question to you, Manfred: Take a meeting with the band and the fans in Koblenz?

Nigel

Thu Apr 8 03:32:48 1999

Manfred - at a concert in '91 the band played a Neil Diamond track, Don't let it get you down 'from the next album', what happened to it?

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:33:39 1999

Danish People - it is never up to me - we respond and do all gigs that are offered

Sven

Thu Apr 8 03:33:52 1999

which MMEB album is your favorite one?

Nigel

Thu Apr 8 03:34:12 1999

Andy - yes Bilston is the Wolverhampton date

Karin

Thu Apr 8 03:34:41 1999

Are there some gigs planned in Eastern Germany this year?

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:34:46 1999

The next album - it is impossible to describe music in words, but the procedure in recording it and the concept is a large departure from previous albums:

Andy - Platform End

Thu Apr 8 03:35:01 1999

Nigel, in that case who out there is up for it?

Wil

Thu Apr 8 03:35:15 1999

Manfred, In the 80's there wer a lot of concerts in the Netherlands, now I've to go to Germany. Do you come to the Netherlands this year as far as you know??

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:35:30 1999

Koblenz - I think we are more interesting as musicians and thats how I like to meet people

Nigel:

Thu Apr 8 03:36:14 1999

Andy - Terry & Linda Strong and Graeme and Lois Paylor are definitely going, I think they said that some others were planning to be there as well. Oh & me

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:36:30 1999

Niel Young - not Neil Diamond, we may perform in the future again:

Wil

Thu Apr 8 03:36:39 1999

Can we expect a new album this year, Manfred

Keld

Thu Apr 8 03:36:56 1999

This new album! - is it some sort of theme........or individual numbers.......and what about this african songwriter you mentioned a while ago ???

Andy - Platform End

Thu Apr 8 03:36:59 1999

Nigel, There's enough for a party if we meet in the afternoon

Sven:

Thu Apr 8 03:37:03 1999

Do you plan to work with other musicians (like Barbara Thompson) on the next album?

Joybringer

Thu Apr 8 03:37:42 1999

Re Wolverhampton get together - 4 from Oldham !!!!

Nigel

Thu Apr 8 03:38:08 1999

PDTAndy - what's your e.mail, we'll take this off-line

Roger

Thu Apr 8 03:38:25 1999

Hallo Manfred! One of my all-time favourite band. I bought your latest live album, wich is great. But why donīt you try some other songs than Davyīs On The Road Again, Mighty Quinn, a.s.o. You have done lots of great songs that I woul d like to hear live

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:38:58 1999

New album this year - no, not this year, partly because of the concerts. The new album does have a theme going through it but I won't discuss it yet

Wil

Thu Apr 8 03:39:17 1999

Manfred, we like to meet you as a musician of course

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:39:29 1999

Other musicians - not at this stage

Andy - Platform End

Thu Apr 8 03:40:21 1999

Nigel, as in Platform End endy@globalnet.co.uk

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:40:29 1999

We do the songs we do best live - some songs

which are good on albums aren't good to perform

Karin

Thu Apr 8 03:40:31 1999

The TV- show in Munich in January we all missed, because nobody knew the date. Why didnīt the fans get this information in time? It`s a real pity there is no live video of one of your wonderful concerts. Why?

Wil

Thu Apr 8 03:41:22 1999

Manfred, Why isn't Chris joining this years tour?

Sven

Thu Apr 8 03:41:22 1999

Sorry...I have to go...but I will be on one of your concerts this year.

Keld:

Thu Apr 8 03:41:31 1999

Manfred, if you can move your fingers that fast on the Moog, howcome Ron is typing for you ???, do you have some sort of computer-fear???

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:41:36 1999

I find individual meetings with fans awkward and embarressing - I always feel I need to be 6 inches taller

Sven

Thu Apr 8 03:42:18 1999

It's all over now..." would be a good live

act - I think

Andy - Platform End

Thu Apr 8 03:42:26 1999

Manfred, you are six inches taller! Honest!!

Manfred:

Thu Apr 8 03:42:41 1999

TV show - good point, we will take it on board and be better next time

Wil:

Thu Apr 8 03:42:50 1999

You taller as a musician, why taller in length??

Manfred:

Thu Apr 8 03:43:33 1999

Chris Thompson - He's living in LOs Angeles and the flights back and forth don't make sense this year

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:44:20 1999

Bye Sven, thanks for joining the chat

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:44:48 1999

Keyboard skills - I'm a musician not a typist!

Karin

Thu Apr 8 03:45:26 1999

We had the chance to meet you shortly in Merkers last year- it was great for us! Its difficult to speak English in such a moment, when you are a German, but we enjoyed every minute!!!

Keld

Thu Apr 8 03:46:11

Manfred, how about this chat-room. Is it possible to meet you here from time to time, I mean.......in here you don't have to be 6 inches taller!!!

Wil

Thu Apr 8 03:46:54 1999

I'm not a keyboard and a typist man

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:47:33 1999

The Chat Room - Yes it will be possible to organise these sessions from time to time

Peter K.:

Thu Apr 8 03:48:01 1999

No Wil - you are a Demolition Man

Andy - Platform End:

Thu Apr 8 03:48:16 1999

Manfred, are you pleased with the re-masters?

Joybringer

Thu Apr 8 03:49:00 1999

Manfred, when you have auditioned replacemants for the band over the years what are some of the qualities you have looked for ? (after all you have rejected some "famous" musicians

Keld:

Thu Apr 8 03:49:55 1999

Manfred, I'm planning to do make a danish fansite, and would like to know if I can use the different graphics (Please Ron!!) from you'r fine site. It will be quite big, and translated into danish. Do you have any problems whatsover about this

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:50:08 1999

The re-masters - I never listen to old stuff, its all dealt with by Mr Steve Fernie

Karin:

Thu Apr 8 03:50:20 1999

In my opinion a highlight of the shows are the fantastic guitar and keyboard solos. Congratulations on the version of Father of day on the Mann Alive Album! Micks solos and the finally part of the song- guitar + keyboard- the best Iīve ever heard! Looking forward to many of these wonderful concerts this year

Ben

Thu Apr 8 03:50:35 1999

Hi Manfred, I'd like to use one of your songs for the background of a short video on my motorbike-homepage. Am I allowed to or isn't that possible because of the copyright?

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:51:28 1999

Auditions - Their response on the day is what we judge them on - this can lead to serious errors

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:52:59 1999

Danish site - Its ok to use the graphics as long as the Manfred Mann Earth Band logo is acknowledged and not distorted

Wil:

Thu Apr 8 03:53:14 1999

Hi Peter, nice to know you're here, from the demolition man:-)

Nigel

Thu Apr 8 03:53:15 1999

Manfred - serious errors? Are there some 'stars' out there you regret having missed? Will you name names?

Reinhard

Thu Apr 8 03:53:49 1999

Î saw the Munich-gig in German TV. I was inspired because there was a professional band and a professional camerateam. I never had such a good view to all the actions on stage. So what do you think about a video with a review to your TV-gigs of all the years. It will be interesting for all the fans in the world which can't see you live on stage. I suppose you have some material for this project, so it will be not so expencive to realize it.

Karin

Thu Apr 8 03:53:57 1999

Manfred, what`s your impression of the German concerts last year and of the audience?

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:54:09 1999

Background music - Plains music is possible but generally its not our material and the copyright belongs to someone else

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:55:00 1999

Missed stars - yes, Huey Lewis.

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:55:54 1999

TV Gigs - I don't have a complete gig thats good enough

Wil

Thu Apr 8 03:56:34 1999

What is the record you're most satisfied of

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:56:37 1999

German audiences - We enjoyed the concerts and it is never our position to judge the audience

Ben

Thu Apr 8 03:57:00 1999

Plains music ( which is a good album) isn't the right for a motorbike site I thought of "Lies"

Keld

Thu Apr 8 03:57:15 1999

Manfred, You'r logo is a holy item, sudden pain will hit the guy who dares to alter. But I was also thinking about making links to various samples - chatroom etc. Still no problems ??

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:57:49 1999

Plains Music is the record I am most satisifed with

Karin

Thu Apr 8 03:58:05 1999

Why must the gig be "good enough" ? You are always good enough,we saw 12 concerts in the last 2 years, and there was no one bad! We are all waiting for a video.

Tobias

Thu Apr 8 03:58:06 1999

Hi Manfred, I agree with Karin about your fantastic gigs. Why don't you record more live concerts and released them on CD?

Wil

Thu Apr 8 03:58:49 1999

Why are you most satisfied with Plains Music, Manfred?

Ben

Thu Apr 8 03:59:21 1999

Yes a video would be great !!!

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 03:59:51 1999

Ben - Lies is one of the few that we do publish so it will be ok for you to use it

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:00:19 1999

I saw you last year in Germany for the first time since long. As fanatic and as enthousiastic as ever

Ben

Thu Apr 8 04:00:47 1999

Thanks a lot :-)

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:00:52 1999

Keld, the answer is yes but please check with Ron on the detail ron@g-vis.co.uk

Keld

Thu Apr 8 04:02:11 1999

Manfred, Howcome you've never been into this video-buisness - Personally I think that most of your works would do just perfect on video..........with me as the leadsinger of course.....hoho....

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:02:25 1999

Live concerts on CDs - surely one is enough?

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:03:19 1999

Wil, I don't know - its what I like to play

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:03:41 1999

As long as you don't let us wait that long for a new CD

***CRASH****

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:04:32 1999

Video business - its incredibly expensive to do the work well

Mike

Thu Apr 8 04:05:35 1999

Hi Manfred - I'm planning to go over to a German gig with some friends. I know about the UK but can you say which is likely to the best and biggest of the German gigs? I was a bit disappointed by the 'cosy' venues over here last year.

Nigel

Thu Apr 8 04:05:53 1999

Manfred - what about releasing (re-releasing?) the Budapest video, I only saw it for the first time last week and while its not the current line up it's still great to see the band on video.

Reinhard

Thu Apr 8 04:06:12 1999

Manfred, it must not be a complete gig. I think a collection from all the years is a good idea.

Ben

Thu Apr 8 04:06:31 1999

But this time without dubble songs. The songs on "Mann Alive" are great - but I have heared more different songs on the gigs. Why don't you take more different songs ?

Keld

Thu Apr 8 04:06:49 1999

But of course you could imagine the visual effects - combined with......let's sat, "Third world service", or "on the run" or...........i could go on and on........buy anyway......is there any videos available at this moment????

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:06:55 1999

What I like most in the music is your charateristic way of playing the keyboards. Like you did on Solar fire for instance

Nigel

Thu Apr 8 04:09:07 1999

Manfred - I know a lot of the venues are not suitable - but what happened to the wonderful cartoons which used to be a part of the concert? In particular the one which accompanied Martha - these could go on the video as well!

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:09:09 1999

Are we allowed to make video recordings (not professional!!!) at your concerts?

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:09:16 1999

German gig - I'm sorry I can't advise on the venues - I play where I'm asked to play - why not ask this question on the message board

Nigel

Thu Apr 8 04:11:18 1999

Hi again.

Ben

Thu Apr 8 04:11:33 1999

And again...

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:11:40 1999

Where do prefer to play, in the open air or in a hall (big or small)??

Nigel

Thu Apr 8 04:12:21 1999

Manfred - what happened to the wonderful cartoons which used to be part of the concerts? (You could include these in the videos!).

Reinhard

Thu Apr 8 04:12:33 1999

and again

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:12:42 1999

Well we did get a few questions answered beteen crashes this time!

Karin

Thu Apr 8 04:13:23 1999

Manfred, are there any other gigs planned btween May 9 and June 5? Or takes the band a brake in this time?

Mike

Thu Apr 8 04:13:46 1999

Just a quickie - Which of the German gigs is going to be the biggest, Manfred?

Peter K.:

Thu Apr 8 04:14:09 1999

Hi Manfred. Your moog seems to be working better than this chat-site. Am I wrong ?

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:14:39 1999

Wil - I prefer to play in a hall, the acoustics are more predictable

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:15:55 1999

Cartoon - we are not playing in venues that are big enough for the cartoons and we only have the rights to use them in concerts

Keld

Thu Apr 8 04:16:19 1999

Manfred, when I was talking about the chat-room, I meat to say that i would like to know, if you would suddenly logon, on you'r own. I mean, if you'r sitting with you'r tea and feeling bored.......could we suddenly see you'r name in the chat room. ????

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:16:34 1999

Do you prefer to play for a big audience or more a friendly, small audience

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:17:26 1999

Karin - there are many gigs that are planned but we can only release information about those that are confirmed - I hope to play all summer long!

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:18:00 1999

Also planned to come to the Netherlands

Keld

Thu Apr 8 04:19:01 1999

To Ron: you should make the textfield larger

Reinhard

Thu Apr 8 04:19:23 1999

Mike - I know the places of the 4 first gigs in Germany. Altenkirchen a big marqee for 3000 visitors; Leverkusen a litle hall (max. 1000); Koblenz an ugli big hall (5000); Aschaffenburg - a club-concert (700) it will be the best.

Karin

Thu Apr 8 04:19:40 1999

And the Eastern Germany? There are a lot of fans, but going to the Rhein area is too far for the most...

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:20:22 1999

Manfred doesn't have a computer at home - we are in the offices of East Central One today

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:20:38 1999

What is the nearest place in germany to Venlo???

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:21:16 1999

Keld - there are many changes to the next chat room session (Ron's answer)

YankeeFan

Thu Apr 8 04:21:21 1999

Manfred, will the group ever come to the US?

Karin

Thu Apr 8 04:22:33 1999

Do you play some instrumental this year on this, like adults only? What about older songs like "Questions"?

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:23:12 1999

The first answer I gave still hold for venues all over Europe - I will go wherever I am told to by the booking agent. We try for a wide spread of venues but can only play were we are asked to play

Keld

Thu Apr 8 04:23:46 1999

Please Manfred get a computer, and then it will be much more fun for you to follow the messageboard and the chat-room........and we the fans would love the thought of you following our universal discussions.......would you consider buying one ???

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:24:37 1999

Yankeefan - welcome to the chat room and see my previous answer

Ben

Thu Apr 8 04:25:21 1999

Leverkusen is near to Venlo - see you there

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:26:00 1999

After all the frustrations and crashes this morning ;-)

Peter K

Thu Apr 8 04:26:16 1999

How old is your moog ? Has it been modified ? Will it keep the tune ?

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:26:28 1999

Based on that tour calendar it seems you're very popular in Germany and it's difficult in other countries. In the Netherlands there is not so much in the news if we talk about MMEB. Bringing up a new single might get a positive attention (or negative if you don't like hits)

JNO:

Thu Apr 8 04:26:32 1999

Any news abour Massive Attack?

Keld

Thu Apr 8 04:26:37 1999

Manfred, are you living as a single, or maybe married, children, big house, bla...bla......just to know whether or not we can expect Manfred Jr.

Nigel

Thu Apr 8 04:27:08 1999

I'd better go & do some work, Thanks. Look forward to the Wolverhampton concert on the 24th April

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:27:42 1999

Where should I get the tickets for Leverkusen???Anybody prepared to help?

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:28:14 1999

Bye Nigel, see you, and enjoy yourself in Wolbverhampton

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:28:38 1999

Karin - no instrumentals this year - we have never played questions live - I don't think its a good track for live performances

Marnie

Thu Apr 8 04:28:43 1999

I love the theme of "Chance", as was wondering if there was a particular reason that was the title of that release?

Karin

Thu Apr 8 04:29:12 1999

But, Manred, a computer can be a nice thing to talk... We bought one last year to get tour informations, because in the years before it was very difficult to get the dates... By the way- the web site is great!

YankeeFan

Thu Apr 8 04:29:15 1999

Manfred, Thanks for all the great music over the years!

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:30:17 1999

Peter - its a 1971 Moog. The Moog sound is sampled and the Moog is used as a modifier rather than the source. Because it is sampled it is always in tune

Wil:

Thu Apr 8 04:30:19 1999

I agree, the web site is great, and information is nearby

YankeeFan

Thu Apr 8 04:30:21 1999

I agree, Karin, I'm fairly new to he web site, but it is terrific.

Mike

Thu Apr 8 04:30:37 1999

Can I make a request for my favourite song, "For You". I hope you can find room for it!

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:31:09 1999

Massive Attack - yes we have started our court case

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:31:22 1999

What instruments will you be using for this years concerts?

Reinhard

Thu Apr 8 04:32:06

Wil - I will put the informations to the messageboard

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:32:26 1999

Wil - its up to record companies to release singles

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:32:37 1999

Thanks Reinhard

Keld

Thu Apr 8 04:33:04 1999

Manfred, can you say anything about you'r new album.......maybe a year to expect it ????

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:33:33 1999

Keld - I don't like to answer personal questions so I respectfully decline to comment

Karin

Thu Apr 8 04:33:49 1999

We feared that there is no tour in 1999, because Noel said on his web site in a interwiev, that he is planning an own tour in this spring - great that he will be there with the Earth Band. When Chris has no time...

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:34:20 1999

Do I understand you well Manfred, that no record company was interested in the last XX years

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:34:25 1999

Marnie - I honestly can't remember

Peter K

Thu Apr 8 04:35:16 1999

Thanks for the moog answer. But when I see the Budapest video, it looks like you're playing with an instrument to tune your moog. What instrument is it on your moog/keyboard?

Marnie

Thu Apr 8 04:35:28 1999

Well, I understand - it was a long time ago!

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:36:29 1999

Keld - 2001 will be the year for this release

Marnie

Thu Apr 8 04:37:00 1999

How is it that you came across the Springsteen songs and decide to cover them?

Mike

Thu Apr 8 04:37:59 1999

Peter K - I don't suppose you bought that video recently?! Budapest is my favourite album!

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:38:04 1999

The instruments will be the same as last year - by the way I am getting hungry and will have to leave shortly

Karin

Thu Apr 8 04:39:06 1999

Manfred, you see, we all want to get a video... Maybe thinking about again??

JN:

Thu Apr 8 04:39:09 1999

Have your view on computers and the possibilities chance since you got your on site?

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:39:45 1999

I'm triggering the Moog from a Yamaha VL1 which is also processed by the moog

Peter K.:

Thu Apr 8 04:39:48 1999

Mike - No

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:40:05 1999

Manfred, thxs for taking time. Hope to see you in Leverkusen or Koblenz this year

JN:

Thu Apr 8 04:40:12 1999

"chance"! I mean changed :)

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:40:34 1999

JN - my view have not changed - I use computers only for music

Keld

Thu Apr 8 04:40:41 1999

Funny story for Manfred: One day I was sitting in the train, and some backpackers showed up. They came from a big danish musicfestival, and because of my doubts about MMEB concerts that year I asked them whether or not , Manfred Mann's Earth Band was there - and one of the guys looked in a confusing way at me and said.........."WHO???? - Manfred Mann's Surf Band???? - HAHAHAHAHAHA - I laughed for weeks.........now thats funny!!!

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:41:41 1999

MArnie - an American DJ gave me the albums in

the mid 1970s

Ben

Thu Apr 8 04:41:45 1999

Why don't you make more promotion - I have never seen a video clip on TV (ok with my 17 years I have squandered your biggest time) ?

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:44:55 1999

Ron, Is this conversation presented on the site???

Karin

Thu Apr 8 04:45:06 1999

Yes, I agree with Ben: There is no promotion, and to get tour informations without internet is very difficult. Iīm sue there are much more fans all over the world, but they get not enough informations. A friend in Germany asked me:" I loved the Earth Band music very much, but are they still alive?"

Manfred

Thu Apr 8 04:45:07 1999

Ben - the world is just not interested enough in us and the TV companies won't show things anyway

Reinhard

Thu Apr 8 04:45:28 1999

Now I must leave the chat. Manfred thanks for coming and see you again in Germany!

Keld

Thu Apr 8 04:45:52 1999

Thank's alot Manfred for doing this session, and for putting up such a great website, now we just need you to get some sort of tiny....tiny computer at home.........just to follow the big ideas born on the messageboard, and chatroom.......but anyway..........bye for now - and bye the way - I hope you were not too upset about my little "The Wall" thing you know...........

Ben

Thu Apr 8 04:46:01 1999

;-(

Andy - Platform End

Thu Apr 8 04:47:07 1999

Before we go, I think we should thank Manfred for the opportunity to chat, and his support to the Fan Club.

Wil

Thu Apr 8 04:47:24 1999

Manfred, I don't think you mind a lot that the world is not interested, am I right?
